He wants to get it clear right away that he is no murderer; getting from the beginning to the end when he finally reveals the reasons behind clearing his name is the journey the reader makes through the novel. In the years that followed, he continued to write, publishing the bestselling Rant, Snuff, Pygmy, Tell-All, a ‘remix’ of Invisible Monsters, Damnedand most recently, Doomed.
Diary and the non-fiction guide to Portland, Fugitives and Refugeeswere released in I’m sorry but this stuff isn’t edgy or boundary stretching, it’s formulaic and predictable. I find the ending similar with the Fight Club. I will agree with a lot of other reviews that there were certainly parts of the book that were extermely repetitive and gimmiky, however, the social commentary sort of made up for those parts and I thought it was hilarious how Tender Branson goes through “Attention Withdrawl Sydrome” when he’s not in the lime-light.
Then with the way it ends. I’m not like regular people, to survive I need to be constantly interviewed. He’d be a wonderful teacher, I’d imagine.
I don’t know what else to say. I’ve watched Fight Clubfor example, but never read the book—my only previous reading chucl Palahniuk’s work, in fact, was Chokeand that was BGR heh.
You have to give him that. Like I said though, I’m too old for Palahniuk’s prose I think.
I thought the idea a little weird and the protagonist could not relate with at all. I understood what the author was going for, I think, and so I’m happy with that. Half glass full sort-of-guy? Significance of reverse page numbers. Without reading the reviews, I already knew that Tender was Chuck.
It was in affect wordplay, that is all. I never felt like I was being bludgeoned over the head with it though.

One of the calls comes from a Trevor Hollis, a man who wants to kill himself because of the nightmares he has been having about disasters, like plane crashes or fires. Now he’s a bit obsessed with death. Our hero is The book has a conceit where the chapters and pages are numbered backwards – which is handy because you always know how much book you have left – but really the content doesn’t reflect that.
Without reading the reviews, I already knew that he was trying to redo Fight Club.
Though Tender is never a likable character in the early pages, he is an interesting one. Stephanie Spines rated it 6 years ago http: Really good writing, exquisite and fine, but brutal and unforgiving, it portrays a human being in its worst times, with its worst thoughts. The FBI move in to arrest the cult leaders only to find the papahniuk community dead in an act of mass suicide upon hearing the news. At home, Tender receives a suspicious call from a man he recognizes as a member of pakahniuk Creedish Church, and he soon realizes that the murderer of Creedish survivors is actually Creedish himself.
I’m debating whether or not I want to go into another book of his. Either way, great read. In her planner that she leaves behind, Tender reads that someone is going to hijack the plane and crash it into the Rosbitek outback.
We all have the same fears. Survivor is a messed up book, which is about what we’ve come to expect from Chuck Palahniuk.
Otherwise, as always Mr, Palahniuk, I salute you. Now that’s a busy li meh. Mostly Tender just tells them to kill themselves so that he can read about their deaths in the paper a side note: Preview — Rozbitek by Chuck Palahniuk.
And so this is exactly what happens, but as we read more we see that that’s not all that happened, beneath the surface there’s actually a lot more that happened to Tender, and we discover it slowly as he recalls his life story whilst hurtling towards the ground in a hijacked aeroplane. I was glad our hero didn’t stay a celebrity long. This is a collection of disconnected, undeveloped ideas which had potential.
The writing and tone of this book remind me a lot of Rozbitel Club. There were times I thought the book was going to go somewhere interesting, but it never quite does.
Tender refuses, but Adam asks him to find any rock that he can just to disfigure him with, pleading that if he goes to jail for his murders, he doesn’t want the other inmates to even think about sexually abusing him. Just as a story can be compromised by effusive language and flowery prose, it can also be compromised by a glut of “essential” detail.
